Pre and Post Tanning Instructions
Before you get your tan on:
- Shower and exfoliate.
- Moisturize regularly, as hydrated skin will hold a better tan.
- Remove makeup.
- Avoid wearing deodorant or perfume.
- Remove watches and jewelry to avoid unsightly tan lines!
- If you take medications, talk to your doctor to be sure your medication isn’t photosensitive (meaning it can be weakened or otherwise affected by UV exposure).
During your sunbed session:
- Use lip balm – lips can burn easily!
- Apply tanning lotion immediately before your session. Never use outdoor tanning lotion or oils in the beds, as they are not designed for indoor tanning and will harm the acrylic.
- Apply SPF to tattoos to avoid fading.
- Use Eyewear - Federal and state laws require you to do so. Keep them in your car. If you forget, you will be required to purchase new eyewear before we can allow you to tan.
- If you choose to tan in the buff, be careful about areas not accustomed to sunlight. Cover sensitive areas with a towel or clothing for the first session and build up tolerance for your next visit.
- Stop tanning if your skin starts to sting or tingle, which can indicate overexposure to UV rays.
After your sunbed session:
- Apply a tan extender or moisturizer like Hempz as soon as your session ends. Tan extenders will keep your tan looking rich and golden longer and will nourish
- If you feel as though you have overexposed, use an aloe-based relief lotion or gel as soon as possible.
- If you are establishing your base tan, you will want to come in about seven times in 10 days to achieve the best color.
- If you are maintaining your current color, you will want to come in anywhere from 1 to four times a week, depending on the equipment you are using.
